I. REVIEW
TADDA was established ten years ago out of the desire for the citizens to help themselves in ways that the government could not or did not have the resources to. In that time, we rebuilt the only high school in Lower Nimba County, built a 500w FM station which is one of the best in the country outside of Monrovia, and helped built two junior high schools and three elementary schools within the District. We also collaborated with the Liberian government, the UNDP and other non-governmental organizations and international agencies to complete several public projects in the District including the Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization local office in Tappita and two local clinics.
On anyone's scales, we seem to have accomplished a lot; but there is still much to be done. The entire developmental environment in Tappita District is changing rapidly and dramatically. With the opening of the Tappita General Hospital, the need for other infrastructural developments has risen to a new level of urgency. "Our goal this year is to put everything on the table," according to Cyril Lurlay, Chairman of the Board of Directors. "Everything," he emphasized. "The constitution, the structure, our traditions, and our entire modus operandi will be on the table for review, to renew, and to revitalize." Regardless of our success, could we do more? Better? Could we work more efficiently? more effectively? We will be hearing from experienced personalities in the business. We will also be hearing from some of our more innovative sons and daughters of the District, some sponsors, and donors on how to move to the next level.
II. RENEW
After ten years of the same group of leaders and administrators, it is high time to open up the running of the organization to the next generation of leaders who are ready, prepared, and willing to lead us to the amazing future that awaits us. This is also the time for those amongst us who have long complained of being left out or on the wayside to join into the mainstream of TADDA. Come one, come all and let us rebuild this organization and take our District to the peak of civil engagement and infrastructural development. Now is the time.
III. REVITALIZE
The opening of the Tappita General Hospital opens a new universe for engagement with our homeland. It opens a new world of opportunities and challenges. We need to position ourselves to reap the benefits while preparing to meet the challenges. TADDA needs to play a pivotal role as out District changes from an unknown town up country to a hub for healthcare, commerce and education. TADDA must help the people of Tappita transition into economic self-reliance, but TADDA cannot do it alone. TADDA needs you this convention as we lay the foundation for the next decade. Come one, come all.

TADDA, The Tappita District Development Association, has established a telephone hotline to inform its members about the Association' s affairs (meetings, events, etc.); and to inform the Nimba Community of happenings in Nimba County, as they become available to us.
For a small contribution to help the Association maintain this line, we encourage Nimbaians and the general public to send us their announcements for broadcast on this line. Just fax your announcements to 404-592-2011.
We encourage TADDA officers and members to share this number with their friends, relatives and associates. The more people that get to know about TADDA and its impact in helping to develop Tappita District, the better!
